Rescuing Roots

entangled ecologies, memory, and radical imagination

About

Hi, I’m Ana, and I created Rescuing Roots as part of my Bachelor’s thesis in Political Science.

My thesis explores a very complex question: to what extent do REDD+ projects in Latin American Indigenous territories uphold principles of climate justice? My paper addresses the lack of quantitative research in this field, and this method allowed me to analyse the whole continent. Of course, this approach doesn’t replace the depth of qualitative work—but it offers a valuable complement.

That said, the world I encountered through my research wasn’t made of numbers. It was full of stories, silences, and deep ethical questions. And that’s where this blog comes in.

Rescuing Roots is a space where I want to translate academic insights into accessible knowledge, and to explore the more subjective, imaginative, and emotional dimensions that my thesis couldn’t fully hold. It’s a personal project with a mix of writing, visuals, and public-facing analysis that reflects what I’ve learned, what I’m still questioning, and what I feel.

Because this project is based on what I have learned this past few months, it doesn’t cover everything. It isn’t “objective.” But it’s honest, and rooted in a desire to help us think differently about justice, ecology, and the worlds we want to build. Hopefully this blog can fertilize the soil of your curiosity.

Thank you for being here <3
